Notes

The explosive, DIY energies of punk provided a powerful catalyst for change as women artists seized new moving image technologies and pushed back at the prevailing ethos. Presented in association with Tate exhibition ‘Women in Revolt!’ and curated by William Fowler and Rachel Garfield, this programme highlights the work of women artists, exploring different points of departure and connection. Anne Robinson came from painting to embrace collective action and production. Vivienne Dick collided the New York No Wave scene with London and Ireland. Jill Westwood from Fistfuck and Christine Binnie from the Neo-Naturists drew influences from confrontational performances, menstrual rituals and the industrial music scene.
