Abstract

This article aims to establish what revision means to practising translators and their views as to what revision involves, in terms of the number of revisions they do, the length of their drawer-time (how long they put their draft away) and the aspects they check for in revision. This is in contrast to the traditional checklist-styled handbooks that instruct translators how they should revise in the translation literature. Interview is employed as a research method for this purpose. Practising translators' own view of their revision behaviours were subsequently compared with those specified in translators' handbooks
