The origins and ends of the mind: philosophical essays on psychoanalysis.

This collection is co-edited with Ray Brassier. It consists mainly of revised versions of papers presented at the conference ‘The Psychoanalytical Ontology of the Human' held at Middlesex University in January 2004, in collaboration with the Centre for Psychoanalysis and Philosophical Anthropology, located at the universities of Nijmegen and Leuven, and sponsored by The Partnership Programme in Science of the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO) and British Council Netherlands. It includes two pieces by Kerslake: ‘Introduction', pp. 1–19 and 'Paradoxes of Normativity in Lacanian Psychoanalysis: Or, Is Castration Necessary?', pp. 57–83, a critique of Lacanian psychoanalytical theory from the standpoint of Hegelian phenomenology
