Abstract

This was the first study to give evidence that a citrus flavonoid (tangeretin) crosses the rat blood-brain-barrier and reduces the loss of TH+ cells and dopamine after 6-OHDA lesion in a model for PD. It showed that there was differential regional distribution of tangeretin within the brain and was neuroprotective.
