Abstract

This paper identifies various issues of data protection law which arise from the use of online learning environments, highlighting some areas which are likely to give rise to institutional risk. It covers both the security of student records in an Managed Learning Environments (MLE) and the use of data gathered about the student’s learning through his or her use of the online learning environment itself.
