Abstract

Students now have to be assessed on their ability to practise in an anti-discriminatory way but there remains considerable uncertainty as to how this should be achieved. Nick Wood of Inner London Probation Service and Tony Goodman of Middlesex Polytechnic argue that students are entitled to know that their practice teachers have thought clearly about anti-discriminatory issues as an integral component of placement, and suggest the main areas that need to be explored at the pre-placement meeting and then held in focus throughout placement.
