Abstract | Family-related migration is moving to the centre of political debates on integration and multiculturalism. More and more, it is also leading to lively academic interest in the family dimensions of international migration. yet strands of research largely remain separate from, and sometimes ignorant, of each other. This book seeks to bridge the disciplinary divides. Fifteen chapters create a prism of themes through which to better understand the diversity of this of migration and its resulting family forms and practices. Coming from a mix of specialisations with different methodological approaches the authors question, if not counter, simplistic assumptions about migrants in public discourses, and acknowledge the state's role in shaping family-related migration, practices and lives. |
