Abstract

Through the fourth industrial revolution (industry 4.0) with networking and digitization, a new level of production technology is to be achieved with cyberphysical systems. This has led to a paradigm shift in the world of work. These applications, known as "Internet of Things", affect people at various levels of qualification and change workplaces and contents to a new definition of them, under the term "work 4.0.".
In order to be able to carry out its activity in the future, industry 4.0 knowledge is required. The subject of the study is the trainee and future skilled worker, who represents half of the 400 participants in the survey carried out, as well as other participants who are also involved in the transition between schools and the working world of tomorrow. Previously, an expert survey had been carried out in the company and the results were incorporated into the large survey.
Topics such as the shortage of skilled workers, changes in the world of work and the German education system, which was criticised in various studies (IGLU/PISA) for its historical contradictions, were also included in the survey. Another point is the transition system (BVJ), with which 250,000 young people gain experience every year. Everyone must complete compulsory schooling by the age of 18 if they do not occupy a job or training place. At the end of compulsory schooling, young people enter the labour market, but their chances are poor without (school/vocational) qualifications.
Many studies show contradictory results and the development can only be estimated with the help of scenarios. There seems to be agreement that the demands on future skilled workers in the factory of tomorrow will increase and that simpler tasks could be taken over by robots. So the question arises, which educational contents the future skilled worker has to acquire in qualifications?
The focus is on the survey, the acquisition of skills should be defined as a research gap, and questions clarified as to whether the lower secondary school leaving certificate still represents the classic admission ticket for training? The conclusion forms an interpretation of the survey results, possible approaches to change such as learning mentor, up to an own educational competence.
