AuthorsFried, L.
Abstract

This paper uses material culture both as a methodology and as a historical source, in order to look closely at how trans identities have been formed in everyday life, and performed on stage in the UK, between 1967 and 1990. I engage with the ways in which the often drastic shifting political and legislative landscape in the UK affected the representation and dissemination of trans identities through popular performance practices, and how the material culture of dress, in particular, has played a part in this.
