Biography
Biography I am currently the Programme Leader in MA International Relations in the Faculty of Business and Law. I have graduated from the Faculty of Political Science in Ankara University. I have been trained in International Relations, Diplomacy and Public International Law. I have arrived in the UK with PhD scholarship awarded by the Higher Education Council in Turkey. Having completed my initial training in MA International Law and Security, I finished my PhD at the University of Hull in the School of Politics and International Studies. Since then I have been employed by Middlesex University and held various academic leadership positions.
Teaching I am a committed internationalist enriched and driven by the cultural, political, and social diversity of my students. I teach global politics, diplomatic statecraft and intelligence, foreign policy analysis, and geopolitical discourse analysis from critical geopolitical perspectives. In my teaching practice, I aim to cultivate a deep and inclusive understanding of world cultures and regions with a view to equipping my students with 21st-century knowledge and critical skills to make sense of world affairs and to build my students' competence, confidence, and resilience in the face of 21st-century geopolitical and professional challenges.
My commitment to teaching and learning has been acknowledged by my students, as I received a student-led teacher appreciation award for innovative teaching. I have also been recognised for my engagement with communities in politics and education at the Turkish, Kurdish, and Turkish Cypriot Community Achievement Awards, hosted by the Centre for Turkey Studies (CEFTUS) in London.
