Biography Recognition of teaching and leadership excellence: In 2016, I was awarded the title of Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in recognition of my teaching and leadership excellence. In the same year of 2016, I joined another fifty academic staff members across the University to become a Teaching Fellow of Middlesex University, helping to promote good learning and teaching practice at University level. In 2018, I was honoured by students nominating me for ‘the Most Inspiring Teaching’ award. Here is what they said: ‘She has always motivated students and will also inform students about what's ongoing regarding Economics Department. Has helped with not only her but other modules too.’ ‘By discussing many live examples ongoing around world and asking and making us students curious to read more about the on-goings of the world.’ In 2019, I was honoured again as students nominated me for Academic Staff Member of the Year – Business in the MDXSU Student Led Teaching Awards. In 2023, I started to take on a new role as the Business and Law Faculty's Director of Learning and Teaching Quality, focusing on our continuation rates and revamping our Foundation Year program. Continuous Professional Development: 1. Attended 5 full-day Leadership Training sessions delivered by the Leadership Foundation in Higher Education in 2014. 2. Attended workshops facilitated by the Higher Education Academy on using multi-media and technology to assist teaching, learning and assessment between 2013 and 2019. 4. Attending and presenting at Learning and Teaching Conferences at Middlesex University, Association of Business Schools and in Spain between 2013 and 2019. 5. Participating in Bloomberg Market Concept Courses. 6. Networking with Banking and Investment professionals working in fields of fund management, investment analyses, business consulting and investment banking.
Teaching Teaching ethos, academic leadership role and skills I put student learning experience at the heart of my career, in both project and programmes design that I led. This ethos not only has impacted on my own practice but also the practice of my team members. I inform my own learning, teaching and assessment practice from pedagogic research to establish a student-centred approach to learning and influence colleagues to do the same by supporting and mentoring them. I am highly effective in my leadership, management and co-ordination whilst in the role as the Director of Economics Programmes and Programme Leader since 2012. During this period, I have had a lot of opportunities to lead, support, supervise, manage, mentor and collaborate as well as co-ordinate with other colleagues of all seniority within the Department and across the University. I have led the Departmental team to successfully validate two new MSc and eight new Undergraduate programmes. As the programme leader of BSc Financial Economics in 2013 as well, I have also helped the programme to achieve 100% student satisfaction in the National Students Survey (NSS) by devoting to provide care and support to students whenever there is a need.
