Biography

Biography

Clair Looby has led a number of programmes including the MA Applied Criminology: Youth and Criminal Justice.  A significant part of her career has involved working with professional cohorts of students and facilitating the development of practice.  This knowledge has developed in part from her practice and academic background in criminal justice, including her role delivering professional qualifications in probation work.  As such she has a broad pedagogical knowledge and interest in professional development, both at the individual and institutional levels and the use of formal and informal learning approaches to improve professional knowledge, competence, and effectiveness.

Clair has played a key role within MDX in the development of external partnerships, including those relating to accreditation services and quality assurance.  She has also played a leading role within her school in the development of initiatives, which support students personal and professional development, employability and careers.  Some of this work involves the development of collaborative partnerships with a range of external organisations, to create opportunities for placements and internships.  This work is in alignment with MDXs strategic priorities of ‘transforming learning’ and ‘creating impact’ through the development of strategic alliances with employers to support innovative and flexible practice led education.  This work also supports the development of MDXs civic agenda and the contribution and impact made at a community and regional level and helps to foster a culture which supports inclusivity and diversity.
