Biography
Biography David Levett is a Graduate Academic Assistant in Graphic
Design at Middlesex University, with over ten years of experience in both
academia and the professional design industry. He holds a BA (Hons) in Graphic
Design from Middlesex University and studied the Post Graduate Certificate in
Higher Education, achieving Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education
Academy (AFHEA). His work is driven by a strong commitment to design education
and a dedication to enabling students to develop their creative and technical
skills. In his role, David delivers workshops across BA and MA
programmes, teaching Adobe Creative Cloud computer software at both
introductory and advanced levels. He also teaches digital illustration, Design
Thinking, web design and explores emerging technologies like augmented reality
in design.
With a background in professional design, David has worked
as a Graphic Designer for clients including the Royal Pharmaceutical Society,
Sainsbury’s and The Sunday Times Magazine. His experience in branding, web
design, and print collateral equips him with practical insights that enrich his
teaching, offering students a comprehensive understanding of design in
real-world contexts.
In addition to his teaching responsibilities, David has contributed
to the university through student support, he has chaired a strand at the MA
Symposium and coordinated exhibitions. Recognized for his efforts, he was
shortlisted for Professional Services Staff Member of the Year at the Middlesex
University Student-Led Teaching Awards in 2020. David remains passionate about
equipping students with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in the
ever-evolving design industry and continues to contribute to the School of
Design at Middlesex University.
Teaching David teaches on the BA Graphic Design programme on modules GDN1005
Creative Workshops, GDN2200 Exploring Graphic Design Disciplines and GDN3200
Graphic Design Specialisation.
