Biography

Biography

I am a Senior Lecturer (Practice) in Social Work and the Programme Lead for the Step Up to Social Work program at Middlesex University. I am currently in the analysis and writing stage of my PhD research which focuses on Social Work Education transforming students into professional graduates prepared for practice and employment .

 Professionally, I am a dual qualified Health and Social Care professional as a qualified mental nurse and a Registered Social Worker. I currently hold a PG Cert HE (FHEA), an MSc (Mental Health Studies), and a BA (Hons) in Social Work. In addition, I am a Practice Educator (Stage 1 & 2); an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP), and a Best Interest Assessor (BIA). 

I teach across our undergraduate and postgraduate Social Work Programmes including CPD courses. 

Teaching

Modules taught: Preparation for Professional Practice (SWK 1023); Preparation for Professional Practice: Communication and Lifelong Learning Skills (SWK1024); Critical Approaches to Life Course Epistemologies (SWK 4248 - Module Lead); Community Project (SWK1005); Social Work Knowledge & Application (SWK4407) and Practice Education Stage 1 (SWK4011 – Module Lead) and Professional Supervision (SWK4080 Module Lead), Practice Education Stage 2 (SWK4421), Social Work Theory and Readiness for Direct Practice (SWK 4500 Module Lead), Social Work Theory (SWK 2404 Module Lead), Masters Dissertation  (IPL 4095 Module Lead)
