Biography

Biography

Dr. Catriona Planel-Ratna is a senior lecturer in Advertising, Public Relations, and Branding at Middlesex University Mauritius. She joined the organisation in 2019 and holds a BSc in Computer Science with Multimedia, an MSc in Enterprise Systems Development and Management, and an MPhil/PhD in Customer Relationship Management from the University of Mauritius. With over 10 years of industry experience as an entrepreneur, during which she developed numerous interactive multimedia tools for staff training in renowned organisations across sectors such as hospitality, healthcare, and education, she also has more than 15 years of experience in tertiary level teaching with aims to make significant contributions to the domains of digital marketing and customer relationship management.

Her latest research, which is practice-based, primarily focuses on exploring and applying generative AI models in education to bridge the gap between cutting-edge technology and practical marketing skills.

Catriona's main research interests extend to customer relationship management (CRM) and digital marketing. Her ongoing work not only contributes to academic knowledge but also ensures that her students are well-prepared for the evolving challenges and opportunities of the digital marketing landscape.

Through her practice-based research and academic activities, Catriona continues to explore the intersections between AI, consumer behaviour, and marketing strategies, enhancing the field of marketing education in our digital age.
