Sustainable festival, tourism and World Heritage sites

Developing strategies for managing sustainable festivals for World Heritage Sites and enhancing community engagement for Hwasun World Heritage Dolmen sites, South Korea

As one of three invited international experts, I co-led the primary session on sustainable festival tourism at the UNESCO World Heritage Dolmen sites in Hwasun, South Korea. Our interactive discussions engaged a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including Hwasun citizens, business representatives, and policymakers, which ultimately led to the implementation of new festival management strategies in 2024, expanding benefits to the wider community.
