Abstract

Existing literature often frames certain factors as barriers to successful industrial digital technology implementation. This study consolidates insights from existing literature and primary data collected from 185 individuals working in UK manufacturing sector, identifying 25 factors as enablers facilitating technology implementation. Findings highlight these factors’ transformative potential, revealing their positive influence on industries that have effectively implemented digital technologies. Thereby prompting a re-evaluation of prevailing perceptions regarding digitalization barriers. However, persistent hurdles exist in government policies, incentives, and cybersecurity. Furthermore, it underscores the challenge posed by the lack of supportive government policies and incentives for UK manufacturers.
