Abstract

Sexual assault is a complex crime which forensic psychological research has only just begun to understand and explain. This chapter gives a brief overview of some of the key areas for consideration by practitioners and researchers. The complexity of sexual assault and its potential similarity to consensual sexual encounters means that work in this area must be undertaken with sensitivity and professionalism.
