Abstract | The Arab Uprising is part of a wider mass global quest aimed at establishing legitimate government. While such movements disrupt order in the short term, they could lead to the establishment of effective democratic institutions. This paper critically assesses the role international law plays in such crises, arguing for greater objectivity in ensuring smooth transitions from authoritarian unrepresentative government towards more democratically oriented ones. |
