Biography
Biography Born in Darwen, Lancashire I was educated at Darwen Grammar School before graduating with a BA (Honours) in Geography from Leeds University. I subsequently trained as a secondary school teacher and taught in both state and private schools in the UK and in New Zealand. I successfully completed an MBA at Henley Management College in 2006 and returned to Henley in 2013 to complete a Professional Certificate in Coaching. My career as a Lecturer then Senior Lecturer at Middlesex started in 2007. Throughout this period I have worked primarily on MA, MSC, MBA and post-graduate professional practice programmes with practising managers seeking to translate their professional experience and expertise into formal academic qualifications. More recently this has seen me ever more involved with Apprenticeship Levy-funded programmes such as the Level 7 Senior Leadership Programme and the Level 6 Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship.
Teaching I am primarily involved in the management and delivery of the Level 7 Senior Leader Apprenticeship (SLA) MBA programme. My involvement is as Module Leader for two modules: Creating Identity & Setting Direction and Portfolio Building & Identity Reconstruction. I am also an Action Learning Set Facilitator on all modules in the programme. Programme participants are predominantly practising managers in Higher Education and Health Care. I designed and support the delivery of the Level 6 Chartered Management Degree Apprenticeship (CMDA) with Transport for London (TfL). I also teach and facilitate Action Learning Sets on the Management Learning & Practice programme with the London Ambulance Service (LAS).
