Biography
Biography Following a long and successful career in Critical Care Nursing I moved into academia 2 and half years ago. Since then I have relished the opportunity to develop students in a number of different programmes. My areas of interest include care of the deteriorating patient, advanced resuscitation and stabilisation of the critically ill. Throughout my clinical career I also developed a interest in care of the dying patient and organ donation. Developing this interest further I became the countries only Nurse to achieve the role of Clinical Lead for Organ donation. Since joining the University I have successfully completed the PGCert in HE and have also become a module and cohort lead.
Teaching My current role in the university is primarily as part of the Student Nursing Associate programme. I currently module lead both practice modules as well as year 2 science. Both of these involve direct teaching and assessment as well as close liaison with clinical partners to ensure the Students are receiving the correct levels of support in practice to enable them to develop new skills. I am an academic advisor for students in both the Nursing Associate and BSc courses. I have taught on the post graduate Intensive Care course and also run resuscitation Council ILS courses for the University.
