foundation. Originally from the Philippines, he transitioned from accounting
roles in banking and insurance to a broad finance career in the UK, gaining
experience across industries such as hotels, retail, import-export, and dairy for over 15 years. Seeking a better work-life balance, he made a significant career
shift into nursing. After earning a DIPHE Assistant Practitioner qualification
and a BSc in Adult Nursing with first-class honours from Middlesex University,
he gained extensive experience in acute hospital settings. In September 2023,
he returned to the university to impart his wealth of nursing knowledge to the
next generation of nurses. In September 2023, Jimmy was featured on the front page of
The True North magazine, sharing his journey from accounting to nursing. He is
also a core member of the #Thisisme program, which highlights the unique
stories of colleagues who have positively impacted others and contributed
significantly to the trust.
During his hospital employment, Jimmy was selected as a
Chief Nurse Fellow (CNF) in the NHS, where he underwent a year-long training
program to develop leadership skills and drive patient care improvements. He is
also a trained Professional Nurse Advocate (PNA) from Worcester University,
providing essential support to colleagues during and after the COVID-19
pandemic. Currently, he offers restorative clinical supervision (RCS) to
colleagues and is expanding this support to other trusts, promoting well-being
and enhancing clinical practice across multiple settings. Jimmy, an alumnus of the Florence Nightingale
Foundation—Mary Seacole Leadership Programme, is dedicated to addressing health
inequalities and improving healthcare outcomes. Through this prestigious
initiative, he advocates for change, develops leadership skills, and ensures
diverse communities receive equitable care. Jimmy actively supports the
Florence Nightingale Foundation's mission to advance healthcare equity by
