Title | An end-system approach to mobility management for 4G networks and its application to thin-client computing. |
Authors | Mapp, G., Hopper, A. and Pantanapongpibul, L. |
Abstract | This paper introduces the idea of client-based handover and the mechanisms for implementing it in a Mobile IPv6 environment. The work is significant as it is the only work that has detailed such a mechanism as well as an implementation and evaluation of respective techniques. The work also examines the application of client-based handover to support the movement of VNC proxy servers as the mobile node moves around. It was also one of the earliest uses of CXTP in a practical system. The work is innovative as other papers and research efforts assume a network-controlled handover. |
