Abstract

This study showed the effectiveness of the abstraction hierarchy (AH) as a knowledge representation scheme for designing user interfaces of complex systems, and provided further evidence of the effectiveness of the EID (Ecological Interface Design) framework.
The output from this study has made a significant contribution to the systematic use of the AH scheme in the design of interfaces for the Korean nuclear power industry and to systems engineers in the Korean air force.
