Abstract

Also from the EPSRC/SPARC funded ‘An investigation into the advanced technology desires, needs and requirements of older drivers' project, this paper describes the participatory design and evaluation methodology used to create the interfaces to help older drivers comply with speed limits through the technology of Intelligent Speed Assist (ISA).
The paper documents the successes, opportunities, pitfalls and guidance in using the method for developing older driver friendly concepts, and subsequent evaluation and iteration to detailed designs. It provides both design practitioners and academics with guidance on the participatory design and development process. Include 2007 is an international conference on Inclusive Design hosted by the Royal College of Art.
