Description

A performance directed by Ghislaine Boddington presented at the Kinetica Art Fair followed by a panel presentation on Sunday 1st March 2009.
The work centred around a topical world of blurred personal and public space and simultaneous local/global habitats and presented the intricate intersection of virtual/physical orientations. The performers mimicked chosen identities - morphing between avatar, cyborg, humanoid, robot, using the electronic, the bionic, the digitronic.
Hyper-existence was all around them. In the interconnected, multi-nodal space of real and virtual, they were required to be sharply connected and speedily responsive to "the others" which required tele-intuition to be learned on the move.
The work was designed to dissolve the virtual/physical boundaries to reveal, with humour and irony, the errors, glitches, thrills and magic moments that transpire.
"DARE WE DO IT REAL-TIME?" was created as part of Post Me_New ID, a co-production bertween body>data>space (London, UK), CIANT (Prague, Czech Republic) TMA Hellerau (Dresden, Germany) and Kibla (Maribor, Slovenia) supported by the European Union within the Culture 2007 Programme. The panel presentation which followed emerged from an interauthored group process involving 11 European artists specialising in performance, video, sound, virtual worlds and interaction.
