Celebrating 'Detour', the Moleskine travelling exhibition, which since 2006 has displayed a unique collection of more than 250 notebooks that have been decorated, hacked, sketched in and filled with notes, clippings and drawings by internationally renowned artists such as Ron Arad, Mart Guix, Ross Lovegrove, Karim Rashid, Zhang Yuan and many more. Included are essays from Maria Sebregondi, Hans Ulrich Obrist, Maurizio Ferraris, Lorin H. Stein and Raffaella Guidobono. Stephen Mumberson's notebook was part of this exhibition and is depicted on pages 210-211 of the book.

The book documents a travelling international exhibition of Moleskine notebooks lent or donated by their owners. From the exhibition website: "Detour is a small piece of the Moleskine journey, where interlacing stories merge. Curated by Raffaella Guidobono, this travelling group show features notebook creations by internationally recognized artists, architects, film directors, graphic designers, illustrators, and writers. Some works contain extensive stories; others are turned into pieces of contemporary art and design. Detour events have already taken place in London (2006), New York (2007), Paris (2008), Berlin (2008), Istanbul (Spring 2009), Tokyo (Fall 2009), Venice (Summer 2010) and Shanghai (Fall 2010).
