In this programme Zoë Hendon, Head of Collections at the Museum of Domestic Design and Architecture (MoDA) explores one small corner of London, North Finchley, where a project funded by the Mayor’s office was intended to get people thinking about their sense of connection to the place that they live.
She details the story of a project in North Finchley’s Grand Arcade, which was partly about regeneration and partly about experimentation in the way on which MoDA’s collections are shared. After commissioning artists and designer-makers to produce new work inspired by the museum’s collections, this work was shown in a new gallery in the Grand Arcade, The Hasler Gallery.
In this programme she also explores how both the suburban high street and the museum are having to adapt and change to meet new challenges of the twenty-first century.
