Abstract | The situation of human rights in Chile in the early 1970s drew the attention of the international community and determined a change of direction of the United Nations Organisation in its approach to human rights violations worldwide. The chapter analyses how the scant impact of the "Study of the impact of foreign economic aid and assistance on respect for human rights in Chile" submitted by Professor Antonio Cassese in 1978 reflects on the historic position of economic, social and cultural rights among UN human rights mechanisms. |
