Title | The impact of bank insolvency on consumer protection and the drive towards the 2030 sustainable development agenda in developing economies: A Ugandan perspective |
Authors | Nsubuga, H. |
Abstract | This treatise analyses the recent collapse of financial institutions (banks) in Uganda and how this has affected consumers, access to credit, access to finance and financial services, cost of credit, and the Government’s agenda towards the attainment of key 2030 SDGs of “No Poverty” and “Creating Decent Work and Economic Growth” by 2030. In particular, the treatise will analyse the financial / insolvency models adopted by the central bank (Bank of Uganda) in its administration of these failed banks and its policies and priorities in safeguarding the financial stability of banks in Uganda as banks and other financial institutions are key drivers of business and trade through the provision of financial services and loan credit to consumers. |
