Abstract

A presentation for LGBTIQ History Month, Middlesex University 2016 of a cross departmental collaborative project to generate new understanding of LGBTIQ experiences by bringing together the different lens of each department. It sought to explore the contribnution of the Arts and Social work in generating new understanding and to appreciate the importance of different types of knowledge in extending insight. The Social work team shared context and narrative insight into the LGBTIQ community. The arts students brought representations of LGBTIQ experience in their art.Students from each department brought their own insights and "knowledge" to an evening of "show and tell" during LGBTIQ HIstory month in 2016 at Middlesex University.
This lecture was the final stage of this project where we gave an evening lecture explorating how different types of knowledge can enhance understanding of LGBTIQ experiences and can build different ways of knowing in both disciplines.
