Vulnerable mothers and recurrent care proceedings: How research findings influenced the design of the Hummingbirds service

Reporting on an innovative collaborative action research project with a practitioners from a Local authority in London, capturing the voices and experiences of women who have had their children recurrently and permanently removed by the courts. This contributes to an emerging debate about the impact on the women of their experiences and lack of services offered post removal, at this time. The women seem often to fall between the two stools of Children's and Adults' Services.
This presentation reports on the findings; the service developed from the research and a small follow up piece of reseerch exploring the women's early thoughts about the service, The presentation describes the model of prqactiice that underpinned the service set up.
