ICP Celebrates a Summer of Love and Intimacy
This summer, visit ICP for Love Songs: Photography and Intimacy, on view from June 2 through September 11, 2023, with a community opening celebration on the evening of June 1. A group show conceived as a mixtape of songs gifted to a lover, Love Songs presents over 250 works throughout ICP's galleries, in photographic projects by 16 international artists that explore love, desire and intimacy in all their most complex and contradictory forms.
Love Songs, organized by curator and writer Sara Raza, will feature work by Nobuyoshi Araki, Ergin Cavusoglu, Motoyuki Daifu, Fouad Elkoury, Aikaterini Gegisian, Nan Goldin, René Groebli, Hervé Guibert, Sheree Hovsepian, Clifford Prince King, Leigh Ledare, Lin Zhipeng (No. 223), Sally Mann, RongRong&inri, Collier Schorr, Karla Hiraldo Voleau.
Synopsis:
Silent Glide portrays the complexities of a couple’s relationship, and the growing incompatibilities of their moral values. The scenes showing the downward spiral of their relationship are set against the dim landscape of Hereke, Turkey. Once renowned for the production of the finest silk carpets, a destination for the noble and wealthy, nowadays the scenery is dominated by the malaise of the cement factory and the freighter's port. This setting contains all the poetic ingredients for the main character to enable him to create, and ultimately becomes his point of departure.
