Abstract

This publication was made for the exhibitions 'Hurriers: Poor in the Roll' at APT Gallery and Five Years Gallery, London in December 2021.

The exhibitions developed out of Anne Robinson's practice-led research drawing on archival material to uncover hidden histories and working with temporally disruptive experimental film techniques and songwriting to construct a five screen installation work : 'The Hurrier' which explores sexuality, class and labour. The broader exhibition features work by: Charlotte Squire, Lou Barnell, Shaheeda Sinckler, Ana Benlloch, Kathleen Mulanniff, The Feminist Library and Tansy Spinks.

The booklet is produced in the form a broadside ballad in two parts: Part one with a print by Anne Robinson drawn form the animated material in 'The Hurrier' expanded film work on one side - folded and with an essay on The Hurrier' art project by co-curator Dr Frances Hatherley. Part Two has the printed image on one side and the lyrics of the ballad 'Poor on the Roll' composed by Anne Robinson on the other.

The publication of this booklet is supported by APT Gallery.
