Abstract

London's Chinatown is the 'public' face of London's Chinese population, but also a private, or 'community' space in which Chinese people can build and maintain connections with other Chinese in London and elsewhere.
This chapter focuses on the way in which London's Chinatown represents and shapes the 'Chinese Diaspora' in the city and on the implications of this for recent political and economic changes in the People's Republic of China (PRC).
