Teaching Anne is the programme leader on the MSc. in Exercise and Physical Activity for Special Populations and Healthy Ageing, which is full time and part time Masters degree that develops excellence at the highest level of professional practice, by understanding both the pathology of conditions and best practice exercise prescription and dietary requirements to help improve physical activity levels and activites of daily living in special populations. The course encourages the student to apply learned knowledge to the clinic/studio/gym situation and apply independent research capacity into areas that they find particularly interesting, thus expanding best practice and knowledge within their own specialist areas of interest. Anne is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy Module leader on: Exercise Prescription for Special Populations, Clinical Science and Nutrition and Professional Placement (which includes all LSI post graduate programmes) Curriculum Development. I designed and developed the Masters in Special Populations to answer both an industry and governmental requirement to up-skill fitness professionals. My knowledge of professional practice informed the content and structure of the degree. The MSc is ahead of the trend and is the first degree of its type in the country. It is the highest qualification of its kind in the industry. Pedagogic interests - Developing practitioner knowledge through reflective consideration of practice and integrating tacit knowledge with new knowledge in taught modules. The amalgamated new knowledge base is then applied to student’s research capacity.
