Title | Guest Editorial: Citizenship and international migration: taking account of gender, sexuality, and 'race' |
Authors | Kofman, E. and England, K. |
Abstract | This Special Issue comprises three papers addressing the social construction of foreign workers in Toronto; gender, age, and ethnicity in immigration for an Australian nation, and sexual citizenship in the new Europe. The papers were originally presented as part of Politics of International Migration and Citizenship session, organised as part of the International Geographical Union Conference in Prague, August 1994. The three papers highlight the different legislations confronted by and experiences of specific populations. They also illustrate the importance of exploring citizenship and international migration at different scales. They engaged the cultural politics of identity and exhibit a concern that gender, race, ethnicity and sexuality and class be viewed as a mutual construction. |
