Description | This exhibition was developed from the exhibition curated by Andrea Harari at Jaggedart, London. The works presented were entitled 'in walled garden’ transcriptions of the Marianne North paintings, The exhibition ‘fade in, fade out’ investigated botanical illustration and floral ornament. Mullaniff studied the inherent pattern formations in the structure of plants. The references used have often been secondary source material in conjunction working from real life specimens. For this exhibition Mullaniff explored drawing, form, tone and composition in relation to the floral paintings of Marianne North, re-configuring these compositions from a contemporary viewpoint. She is interested in a re-appraisal of Marianne North paintings to inform her ongoing concern with floral imagery, decorative structure, pattern and ornament. |
