Abstract

This presentation was given as part of a seminar hosted on behalf of the British Association of Social Workers and the Centre for Social Work Practice, at Middlesex University on 11th February 2020. The event was part of the 80:20 series, which addressed the problem of social workers having to spend 80% of their time at their computers and only 20% face to face with service users in child and family practice. Considering how relationship-based social work practice can be maintained during times of financial austerity, the session looked at ethical dilemmas and how to manage these, drawing on the idea of social suffering as a theoretical base.
