This teaching and performance project has involved the research, planning and delivery of a programme of workshops in Jenin, Palestine with performer and activist Mark Thomas and the staging of public comedy performances there (2016-17). In 2018 I then worked as ‘Director of Comedy’ with Mark, two of our Palestinian students (who travelled to the UK from Jenin) and theatre director Joe Douglas on the devising, rehearsal and staging of Showtime From The Frontline which toured the UK in April - May 2018 and was reviewed extensively in national and regional media.
I contributed to the creation of the script of Showtime From The Frontline (working from recordings made during rehearsals) and writing the introduction to the published version. I chaired a post-show discussion during the show’s London run at the Theatre Royal, Stratford East in April 2018. A DVD version of the show has also been released.
