Description

Balad is a touring stand-up comedy show I co-directed with my PalCom (Palestinian Comedy Club) partner Alaa Shehada, working with Charlotte Knowles (PalCom; Independent Film Trust) and a group of Palestinian performers. Building on our previous work in the region (2016-18; 2019), this show (and an accompanying workshop series) was devised and rehearsed in Ramallah (May 2022; June-July 2022). Balad toured venues in Palestinian cities in July-August 2022. The show features six Palestinian performers from different areas of the West Bank and the '48 Regions coming together to use comedy to explore what it means to be Palestinian today.
