Biography
Biography Throughout my employment with Middlesex University
Business School, I have taught on the Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG)
Marketing Degree programmes, the MBA programme and, Chartered Institute of
Marketing (CIM) related modules at Middlesex University. Equally, I have
supervised UG and PG dissertation students, as well as PhD students, and work
placement students. I have completed all three stages of the MUBS PhD
supervisors training, which has involved me adopting various roles such 2 x
Chair for PhD viva voce examinations, as well as Internal Examiner for PhD
registration panels, transfer panels and PhD final submission/viva voce. In addition, I have had three successful PhD
completions, with a DProf student completed in Nov 2023. I have presented at
various marketing, small business, doctoral and teaching conferences, round
table events, special interest group seminars and workshops. Interestingly, in
2006, whilst conducting a Senior Executive workshop in Karachi Pakistan, a
colleague and I were invited to present a lecture on the subject of “Creating a
Sustainable Competitive Advantage Through eMarketing” to the Marketing
Association of Pakistan.
Teaching Curriculum
Design: Throughout my various roles as Director of Resources,
Programme Leader, and Dept Teaching and Learning Lead; I have been responsible
for the curriculum design, preparation, assessment (mapping module learning
outcomes with programme outcomes) and effective delivery of various Marketing
and MBA programmes. Moreover, this involved (i) using scholarship in teaching
and learning to inform best practice, so reflecting and supporting equality, diversity and
inclusion; (ii) liaising with external professional bodies to enhance
student employability via programme design; and (iii) using feedback, reflection,
and professional development to improve overall quality and standards of
academic programme provision, and to enhance the overall student experience. Finally, I have taken part in numerous
programme validation panels, and acted as external programme validations panel
member for various UK and overseas Universities. Teaching
methods: Didactic lecture, seminar, use of case studies, role
play, show and tell, challenge the author, student-directed research
activities, group presentations, discussion of video presentations, marketing
simulation games and, employer driven residential trips. Assessment
methods:
Case-study development by students, seen/unseen essay
and/or case-based exam, Industry/company portfolio development, essay-based
assignment, industry-specific report-based assignment, part peer-assessed group
presentation, developing a case-study narrative with specified questions and
suggested solutions, student centred reflective overviews and business
simulation games.
