Biography

Biography

Professor Mari Jansen van Rensburg holds the title of Pro Vice-Chancellor and serves as the Mauritius Campus Director of Middlesex University (UK). She has almost 30 years of experience in multicultural and multidisciplinary settings and extensive knowledge of international higher education. As Campus Director, Mari leads the Mauritius campus on behalf of the Joint Venture partners. She is responsible for shaping and delivering the strategic plan for the Campus, meeting financial objectives, and managing resources and budgets. She is responsible for ensuring that the branch campus maintains the highest standards in student experience, academic achievement, academic excellence, and staff wellbeing. Mari serves on various institutional forums and is a member of the Middlesex University (UK) Academic Board, Academic Leadership Board, Programme Development Board, Senior Management Group, University Promotion Panel, and the International Campus Review Group. Mari also contributes significantly to the educational landscape in Mauritius. Her commitment to growing the sector and fostering internationalisation is evident through her involvement and leadership in various ministerial, regulatory, and economic committees, task groups and panels. She also serves as an executive member of the Association of Private Higher Education Institutions. Prior to the current role, she had a successful career history at the University of South Africa (Unisa), where she served as a Professor in Strategic Management and held several senior leadership roles and positions. She ended her career at Unisa as Academic Director of the Graduate School of Business Leadership. Management. Mari is a strategic thinker with a hands-on entrepreneurial approach.
