Biography
Biography Dr Girish Bekaroo (Member, IEEE) is an Associate Professor
in Computer Science and the Interim Head of School: Science and Technology at
Middlesex University Mauritius. He has a PhD in Sustainable Computing from the
University of Technology Mauritius in 2016. Dr Bekaroo was a Scholar at
University of Hull, UK, and a Fulbright Research Scholar at the University of
California, Davis, USA. Dr Bekaroo has also been the Campus Lead – Research and
Knowledge Exchange at Middlesex University Mauritius, responsible to promote a
research culture and to build research capacity at the university. As a
researcher, Dr Bekaroo has been the Principal Investigator, co-Investigator and
Research Consultant of over 12 funded research projects related to the application
of cutting-edge technologies to address topical research issues including
carbon footprint estimation, flash flood nowcasting and hazard perception
evaluation. He has over 70 research publications in proceedings of
international conferences published in IEEE Xplore, ACM and Springer, as well
as publications in journals of impact including Renewable and Sustainable
Energy Reviews, Journal of Cleaner Production and Robotics and
Computer-Integrated Manufacturing.
