Abstract

Virtualization has become a pivotal technology in cloud computing, significantly influencing data center efficiency. This paper examines the energy consumption and performance of different virtualization environments, specifically virtual machines (VMs) and containers, under a variety of workloads and conditions, including internal server settings and external factors such as ambient temperature and power supply. A detailed data analysis is conducted based on a dataset collected from a controlled experimental setup, which replicates a real-life data center environment augmented with sensors to monitor variables like temperature and humidity. The study evaluates and compares multiple virtualization strategies to enhance the methodology and accuracy of the results concerning energy efficiency.
