Abbas Kiarostami

This essay is a study of the Iranian filmmaker, Abbas Kiarostami. The writer considers the filmmaker's films in relation to their distribution through the international film festival circuit and discusses the aesthetics of his earlier and later works. She also considers the positionality of the filmmaker, as poet or intellectual, in relation to the cultural and political contexts in which he works.
