Abstract | The purpose of this paper is to examine the effects of selected socioeconomic and demographic factors on fertility in a rural area of Bangladesh. It has been revealed that age at first marriage and coital frequency have direct significant effects while ever use of contraception and duration of breast-feeding have direct positive significant effects on total parity. Total effects of wife's education and age at first marriage on fertility are found to be negative while those of religion and household income on fertility are found to be positive. |
