Title | The IWW in Turin: militant history and the crisis of high capitalism in 1970s Italy |
Authors | Pizzolato, N. |
Abstract | This paper analyses the historical reading of the International Workers of the World (1905-1924) by Italian Marxist activists in the context of the social and labour protest occurring in Turin in the 1970s, on the backdrop of the economic crisis and the restructuring of capitalism and the Fordist system. This was an example of a political use of history in order to advance the agenda of self-activity of the working class propounded by a section of the radical labour movement. |
