Abstract | Over several years, leading up to her passing away in summer 2016, Rosemary Butcher actively considered past artistic practice in the making of new works. The chapter entails a discussion of the aspects of time, memory and archive in view of three different creative processes of Butcher between 2010 to 2015: her reinvention of Allan Kaprow’s 18 Happenings in 6 Parts, her re-staging of her seminal work SCAN from 1999 in the context of the retrospective event Memory at Work: Rosemary Butcher in the Present Tense at the Academy of the Arts, Berlin, as part of Tanz im August 2015, as well as the creation of her latest choreography The Test Pieces from 2014–2015. © The Author(s) 2017. |
