An engagement with a variety of media seems commonplace for performance practitioners, not only in the context of documenting their practice, but also for those working across artistic disciplines. While established debates in the
performing arts tend to focus on the multiplicity of media practices, for instance in view of archival debates or issues of ephemerality, what has been less foregrounded to date are questions concerning the actual moments of transition between media and genres, as these are practised by performance-makers, often in collaboration with others. What happens in these moments of change between media, and what issues do arise? Through positing this central question concerning practices of transfer and migration between media, the publication offers a focus on moving between boundaries, on acts of transmission and change from one medium to another, in conjunction to considerations on ‘medial
